Upscaling HD DVD Players

What’s the use of that plasma screen TV or LCD screen if you’re only ever utilising it to half capacity? (It’s a bit like using a sports car to tow your caravan!) While our HD digital TV broadcasts employ our HD screens to maximum advantage, our existing DVD’s don’t…

Not to worry. If you’re waiting for HD DVD or Blu-ray; even if you’re not taking sides yet, you can still make the most of your existing DVD collection (and make considerably better use of that big TV screen at the same time). The way things are at the moment, the bigger the screen, the greater the qualitative discrepancy between digital High Definition TV reception and SD DVD’s.

That’s why upscaling DVD players are a godsend. They’ll play pretty much any disc format effortlessly. (That in itself makes them worth their weight in gold.) More than that, they’ll actually improve the quality of your viewing experience. Standard DVD’s are qualitatively way behind HD TV. Flick between any HD digital broadcast and a regular DVD presentation and you’ll notice the difference straight away.

The upscaling DVD player actually improves the pictures as they’re transmitted, via DVI or HDMI connectors. The upscaling process mathematically adjusts for the discrepancy between the pixel counts of the standard DVD image and the capacity of your televisions screen, effectively filling in the gaps in the SD DVD output! Result: near High Definition quality images.

You’ll immediately appreciate the improved colour definition and enhanced detail; it’s like having all your favourite DVDs remastered and reformatted.
