HD DVD – The Digital Versatile Disc

When you live in a High Definition world, everything looks and sounds better. But one of the principal perks of the HD DVD revolution is the ease with which us consumers can adapt our viewing experiences to meet our needs. After all, there may be times when we just want to settle down with some low definition entertainment. Just because we’ve gone HD doesn’t mean we have to abandon SD DVD’s altogether. (That’s good news for those of us who’ve already built up a sizeable library of DVD classics!) Fortunately HD DVD is sophisticated enough to be able to cope with both extremes in quality. It’s a bit like having a super sophisticated stereo system that still plays 78’s! That’s no small achievement for a high tech piece of kit like the HD DVD. After all, when was the last time you were able to watch a Betamax video on your VHS VCR?

Essentially that means that Digital Versatile Disc is finally living up to its name. HD DVD is sufficiently versatile to support numerous playback formats, ranging from mp3 to MPEG. Accordingly users can toggle between various playback options from a bespoke welcome screen which gives them absolute control over their viewing specifications.

Set up options and menu functions are all still accessible while a disc is playing. So now there’s no need to interrupt the flow of a movie or lose your place in a disk whether you want to pan and tilt, or access a commentary track mid way through play.

More than that; users can flip between varying video output modes, depending on the nature of your feature presentation (e.g. analogue video or digital High Definition Multimedia Interface). You can adjust the screen resolution from 480p up to 1080p to accommodate the best and worst that your viewing screen and your DVD collection have to offer.

HD DVD is the first truly versatile DVD system; sophisticated enough to cater for every kind of requirement.
